This Beef Ham And Swiss Melt Sandwich is a delightful combination of tender beef ham and melted Swiss cheese on crispy bread, paired with a sweet and tangy honey mustard dip. It’s a quick and comforting meal that will transport you back to cozy afternoons.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices Sourdough bread (or your preferred bread)
  • 8 ounces beef ham (preferably honey or Black Forest ham)
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (soft, for spreading)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (optional, for extra kick)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing the honey mustard. In a small bowl, mix together the Dijon mustard, honey, and optional apple cider vinegar. Stir well until everything is combined, which should take about 2 minutes.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of the softened butter. Wait until the butter is melted and slightly foamy (about 1-2 minutes).
  3. Place two slices of Sourdough bread in the skillet and generously spread them with the honey mustard mixture. This should be evenly distributed to season the sandwich.
  4. Top the spread slices of bread with 4 ounces of beef ham and 2 slices of Swiss cheese. Leave the other two slices of bread unspread for now.
  5. Place the unspread slices on top of the filled slices. Cook the sandwich for about 4-5 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
  6. Carefully flip the sandwich with a spatula and add the remaining butter to the top slice. Cook the other side for another 4-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
  7. Once the sandwich is done, remove it from the skillet and let it cool slightly. Cut it diagonally to reveal the filling. Serve warm and enjoy!

Keywords: Be careful not to over-toast the sandwich; keep the heat moderate to avoid burning the bread before the cheese melts. You can also experiment with the ratios of honey and mustard in the sauce to find your perfect balance.
