Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds (about 1 kg) of chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (toasted)
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200 °C (400 °F). This is important for even cooking and crispiness of the chicken wings.
  2. Wash the chicken wings thoroughly and let them drain well. Dry them with paper towels to remove excess moisture, which helps achieve a crispy texture.
  3. In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Stir the mixture well until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  4. Add the chicken wings to the marinade and mix well to ensure the wings are evenly coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes, ideally 1-2 hours in the refrigerator for more intense flavor.
  5. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a rack on top. This helps keep the wings crispy and allows fat to drain off.
  6. Place the marinated chicken wings on the rack and put the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Bake the wings for 25-30 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy. Turn them halfway through for even browning.
  7. After 25 minutes, remove the wings from the oven and brush them with the remaining marinade. Return them to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the glaze is slightly caramelized.
  8. Remove the chicken wings from the oven and let them cool briefly. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added freshness and crunch.
  9. Serve the Sticky Soy Glazed Chicken Wings warm and enjoy them with your favorite dips or sides.
